Jim Ryall (popularly known as J. Ryall) was an interesting person and someone that I have always admired. He passed away on April, 2015 but I kept this blog as a token of appreciation to him and his work. If you are into fishing like I am, I am sure, you have heard of Jim or at least J Ryall products in the world of fishing.
He was a self educated expert machinist who manufactured the highest quality metal parts/boxes,etc for military fighter jets, the Apollo space program, etc from his machine shop in the San Carlos area from about 1960 until he retired in 1998.
One of the best things about Jim was his authenticity and care for his customers. One of my close friends bought a fishing reel from him back in 2000 and the reel had a minor adjusting problem after about 200 days of usage.
The shop was nearby, so we took it to him and he was kind enough to get it fixed for us without any hesitation – and we couldn’t even pay him anything.
If you have a story about Jim which you would want us to share with the world, please email at mail at jryall.com
Thanks for your work Jim. You are the best.
